Hive Nox
With a population estimated at only around 3 billion Hive Nox is considered a Tertiary Hive and is small by Necromunda standards, however its position at the terminus of the Dust Road, just outside the Dust Wall of the Xenos Quarantine Zone means it is one of the more vibrant, and violent, hive cities on Necromunda.
Hive Nox serves as a resupply and R&R point for the militias guarding the Dust Wall, and as a base camp and resupply point for those embarking on excursions into the quarantine zone around Hive Secundus. Catering to the needs of this varied clientele has seen Hive Nox become a manufacturing hub for all manner of armaments and munitions, food and supplies, as well a busy trading site in recently salvaged resources, archaeotech and other treasures, both legal and illegal, retrieved from the zone. With a steady stream of credits heading from Hive Nox to the major Hives of the Palatine Cluster, the ruling houses are happy to turn a blind eye to many of the goings on, as long as they continue to receive their tithes of course.
When so many soldiers of fortune, militia, mercenaries, gangers and other assorted scum are gathered there is inevitably huge demand for entertainment services, and the nightlife and distractions available in the bars and dens of Hive Nox rival those found anywhere on the planet. There is a thriving trade in ghast and other narcotics, and the Corpse Guilds are kept very busy, as are the Enforcers.
No single gang has a controlling interest in the hive, although all are represented, often in a state of uneasy (and often short lived) alliance as they seek their share of the resources brought out of the zone by the foolhardy explorers and scavengers, or the wealth brought from the Palatine Cluster by the young nobles heading to Hive Secundus to make a name for themselves.
Numerous Mercator Guilds recognise the opportunities present in Hive Nox and have a strong presence supplying or dealing in all manner of necessities and luxuries to the soldiers, adventurers and hivers that call Nox home. Agents of the enigmatic Ferrymen can often be found here, offering their services in guiding expeditions over the wall.
However, in recent times rumours have begun to spread of the existence of deep buried transit lines in the lowest levels of the underhive. Transit lines that may once have linked it to vast storehouses of riches, and perhaps even as far as Hive Secundus before that mighty hive was corrupted then destroyed. If those storehouses and transit lines really exist, they could perhaps offer an easy route into the exclusion zone and the wealth of Secundus that lies within. Or perhaps, an easy route out…
“Hive Nox, you’ll be hard pressed to find a greater melting pot of scum and outlaws this side of Hive Primus. Plan accordingly…”
